                       How To Have A Personal
                        Relationship With God!

A - ADMIT that you are a sinner and are not good enough to be able to live in Heaven with God
when you die. Admit that you can never be good enough to satisfy God’s standard (perfection) for
getting into heaven. (Romans 3:23; Ephesians 2:8-9)

B - BELIEVE that Jesus died on the cross for your sins and His death, burial, and resurrection are
all that is necessary to wash away your sin and make you appear perfect before God. Believe that
if you accept Jesus’ death as the payment for your sin that God will forgive your sin and not punish
you for that sin. (Romans 5:6-10; Romans 6:23)

C - COMMIT your life to Jesus by asking Him to forgive you of your sin and to give you His free
gift of eternal life. (Romans 10:9-13)

You can have God’s free gift of eternal life if you sincerely pray the following prayer, believing God
will answer this prayer by saving you from your sin:

“Dear God, I know that I am not good enough to get into your heaven when I die. Jesus, I am
asking you to forgive me of my sin so I can appear perfect before God and go to heaven when
I die. Jesus, please come into my life, take away my sin, and be my Savior and Lord, so I can
have your free gift of eternal life.

If you prayed that prayer, will you contact us so we can pray for you?

                                               What We Believe

We have adopted as our general statement of faith “The Baptist Faith and Message” as adopted by the
Southern Baptist Convention in 1963 and revised in 1998 and again in 2000. We believe:

The Scriptures (Bible) are God’s divinely inspired record of his revelation of Himself to man. It is without
any mixture of error and is a perfect treasure of divine instruction.

God: There is one and only one living and true God who is preexistent, intelligent, spiritual and personal Being.
He is the Creator of the universe, the source of our redemption, and holy and perfect in all ways. He is eternal
and uncreated. God reveals Himself to us as Father (Creator), Son (Jesus the Redeemer), and Holy Spirit, with
distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being.

Man was created by the special act of God. He is created in God’s image, endowed with freedom of choice,
and is the crowning work of His creation. Though created in innocence of sin, man through his free choice
chose to sin against God and brought the plague of sin upon the human race.

Salvation involves the redemption of the whole man, and is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as
Lord and Savior. Salvation comes through Jesus and Jesus alone, who by His own blood obtained eternal
redemption for man. Jesus is the perfect, sinless sacrifice for our sin, accomplished through His crucifixion,
burial, and resurrection.

The Church is a local body of baptized believers who are associated by free choice and covenant in the
faith and fellowship of the gospel. You join the church through Salvation/Baptism, Baptism, Statement of Faith,
or Letter from another cooperating Southern Baptist Church.

The two ordinances of the Church are Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Baptism is by immersion and
reserved for those who make a public profession of their salvation. It is a symbolic act of obedience.
The Lord’s Supper is a testimony to and celebration of God’s great act of redemption through the
death and burial of our Lord.

You can become a member of our church one of four ways:

If you have never been saved, you can come forward at the end of one of our Worship Services and
announce your desire to accept Jesus as your Savior and your desire to be baptized into the fellowship
of our church.

If you are already saved, but have not been baptized or you have not been baptized by immersion, you
can come forward at the end of one of our Worship Services and announce your desire to join our
church by being baptized by immersion.

If you are saved and presently the member of a non-Southern Baptist Church and have been baptized
by immersion, and their doctrine of baptism is like ours, you can join by statement that you have been
saved and baptism by immersion by coming forward at the conclusion of a worship service and
announcing your intention to join our church by Statement. When joining by Statement, you will not
have to be baptized again.

If you are a member in good standing of a Southern Baptist Church, then you can come forward at
the conclusion of a worship service and announce your intention join our church by transfer of a
letter of membership from a Southern Baptist Church.

                                 We Welcome You to
                         First Baptist Church of Dawes

Our church was established in October 1955 as a Mission of the Central Baptist Church located in the
city of Mobile. We were established as a Baptist witness in the Dawes community.

We exist today to influence the moral and social climate of our city through the sharing of our faith with
those around us, and by living out our faith each day.

Our mission is to “Honor God by leading people to become fully devoted followers of Christ.” We seek
to lead people to make a series of commitments to: church membership, spiritual growth, a personal
ministry through the church
, and personal evangelism.

We are a Southern Baptist Church in friendly cooperation with the Mobile Baptist Association, Alabama
Baptist State Convention, and the Southern Baptist Convention.
